The new building at the entrance to the park is nice. It appears as though many of the sites are decent size but the parking pads are narrow and short. Our site was very level but a tad small for a camper and a screen tent. All the sites are wooded, and you are isolated on both sides and behind you quite well. Sites across the road are not offset so you look across the road to another campsite. The bugs were no worse then our house in the city. The beach is nice, the playground by the beach was rated 5-12 however our 5 year old conquered the majority of the activities quickly but he had fun. Overall an ok campground.
We stayed at Group Site 2. We only had 4 families, but the site holds 80 people. Probably one of the nicest group sites in a State Park we have ever camped in! Site had multiple pads for tents of all sizes and fire rings and picnic tables at each spot. We were pleasantly surprised to find a huge permanent shelter on the site, and for $10 extra a day, we had electricity in the shelter. Site had it's own pit toilets. Literally the last stop on the road, the site was right off some trails, though we only saw a few hikers venture back our way. No mosquitos or raccoons, but had deer grazing on our site. Kids had a great time with scooters around the loop and in the shelter. Dated bathrooms in the family campground, but functional. Wasn't terribly impressed with the fishing or the beach (lots of algae, kids were green when they got out), but enjoyed the hiking and hanging out on our site immensely.
State parks cover your fun. Everybody enjoys the year round activities.
We spent a great weekend camping here. Camp sites differ in size and some offer more privacy than others. Beach area is in 0.4 mile walking distance from the campgrounds. If you bring a kayak or a boat with you, you will have to drive them down to the beach or a boat areas. Park has kids playground area that is next to the beach area. Facilities are fairly well maintained and bathrooms and showers are kept clean.
Nice Park. Lots of room. Boat rentals available. Not far from major bike trail
